Project Re-membrer aims at exploring the concepts of memory, remembrance, and remembering from different perspectives. It seeks to facilitate exchanges and create platforms of discussions between different structures, organizations, projects, individuals on these thematics.
Project Re-membrer will initially focus on the following questions:
- Concept of memory – to remember. Is this a universal concept? Is it present in all cultures, societies? Which form(s) does it take, how is it experienced and defined?
- The role of memory (and memorials) in the constructions of the State and of the Nation (past, present and future)
- What to do with historical monuments after a regime change or an evolution in ideology? Examples of post-communist era, post-colonial era, post-coup, etc.
- Physical re-membering and overcoming physical and psychological trauma on personal and community levels
